No Room For Racism

This project was part of my Research Inquiry looking at Racism in modern football. I decided to work within the Premier League and try to raise awareness of the issue of racism through design.

For part of the project I wanted to look at the diversity that you can find within the Premier League and celebrate that.
I found out that including the home nations, 110 countries had been represented in the Premier League's history and I decided to celebrate that by taking a player that had represented each nation and put them infront of their countries flag. After I had done all 110 pieces I was quite amazed by just how many nations had been represented in just one league. (Here are 10 of my favourites)
The No Room For Racism posters were one of my favourite parts of the project and are pieces that I am very proud of. Combining player images with some type and the Premier League branding, as well as the club colours, I was able to create what I feel were simple yet elegant posters that could be featured around stadiums and on social media as part of a larger campaign.
I also created a minimalistic series titled "The Only Colour That Matters, Is The Colour Of The Shirt". This was to promote the message that the colour of your skin doesn't matter, it's about your club and supporting your team. I decided for these that I would desaturate the players so that they were all black and white and then just focus on the colours of the clubs and the kits. So each design's background is the primary colour of the club with the club logo placed behind the players.
