The neon shapes and objects photographed here were captures while driving through the desert outside Jeddah at night. These kiosks appeared like balls of light in the middle of this pitch darkness showing a mysterious contrast between the alien colours and what was all around them - a vast black emptiness - A lot of Saudi people like bright neon lights as it is a sign of luxury and modernity because just a hundred years ago there wasn’t any electricity there. It can be found not only out in the surrounding desert as a strategic selling spot, but also in people’s houses and businesses. Giving almost a feeling of status symbol or lucky charm.
