NOWNESS - Triumph of the Underdog

English-born director Carwyn Jones—one half of director-producer duo Anorak Films, alongside Marisa Candia Cadavid—talks about Estella, their portrait of a man and his sheepherding companion, made in collaboration with director Tarek Serraj: “Estella is a Ca de Bestiar, a sheepdog unique to the island of Mallorca since the thirteenth century. Miquel, a shepherd, offers us an intimate view of what makes this breed of dog so special. His work with Estella is a well-choreographed routine based on mutual respect and a language few speak. Sadly, the breed's status as working dogs may disappear within a generation. ”
