Film stills of 'Occupations of Uninhabited Space' A short film in progress Inspired by Ursula Le Guinn and other feminist sci-fi brainspirals Contemplating imaginaries of future beings of a functioning utopia “If you like you can read it as a thought-experiment. The purpose of a thought-experiment, as the term was used by Schrödinger and other physicists, is not to predict the future – indeed Schrödinger’s most famous thought-experiment goes to show that the “future,” on the quantum level, cannot be predicted- but to describe reality, the present world.” – Ursula LeGuin A future, freed from the mind and uncontaminated from consumer capitalism, conjures a collectivity 'radically other'. Disembodied bodies function as a collective whole. Hybrid freed bodies (in becoming) are made from left-over parts once existing in-between the margins of a progressive capitalist systemA non-static, in-process installation composed of fallen stars (dried artichokes), mica crystal, chicken feathers and llama wool, made on-site in the Atacama Desert in Chile. The tentacular body, made of different bodily parts, represents sympoetic beings of the future. The creature unfurls and births in myriad ways and different forms. It is unstatic, unstable and in a continuous state of becoming or transformation.
