Olding Road Skatepark Exhibition

  • Tom Kitto
For one of my final major projects, I was given the topic of sport and how you can use material objects or spaces in a creative way. As I have been a part of my local skatepark community since I was 13 I knew straight away I wanted to involve my local community combined with my desire to use spaces created to bring people together. For this project, I shut down the skate park for an evening and put on an exhibition showcasing local skate park community artists work on. I also organized for a local screen printing company to come down and put on a demo for the younger generation to have a go at printing T-shirts. We also projected college students film work onto a building to get their first taste of what it's like showcasing their work. This event attracted over 200 people with 12 artists, 4 filmmakers, a print company and a DJ.
This is some of the positive responses I received after the event.
