Oltremuro

  • Marco Salomoni

The idea is to realize a stone self-supporting structure in order to divide the external areas. The considered areas are welcoming spaces such as the exterior of a library, cultural and social centers, ludic locations, hotels or other spaces such as urban parks and green areas. The main function of the structure will be that of diving areas. There will also be a secondary monumental aim, where the object is reproduced in series and will have to catch customers’ attention and curiosity, serving as a filter. A wall that divides but does not separate: OLTREMURO (beyondwall). Oltremuro was also one of the projects chosen for prototyping. 10 companies belonging to the Chiampo Marble Consorting undertook the realization of this only project and its presentation to Marmomacc 2014, an international marble exhibition in Verona. Each company produced 3 ashlars and they obtained a heterogeneous wall, made of ashlars of different marbles. In particular, a company called Athena Marmi decided to employ the Oltremuro project for the restyling of their own headquarter. “oltremuro” was published on the Italian magazine Casabella, vol. 845 and different architectural and design websites.
