When the Crumb team were approached by Gareth Pugh + Carson McColl to work with SAKEEMA on a project in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, we knew the results were going to be incredibly powerful. Their short film 'On The Pulse Of The Morning', features Sakeema and the inimitable words of Maya Angelou shot and was Directed/Produced by Carson + Gareth. ‘History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced, with courage, need not be lived again’ Featured on ShowStudio + UK Black Pride, you can read more on this special project below : 'This film is to highlight the 50th anniversary of Christopher Street Liberation Day — the first ever Pride march — which itself took place exactly one year on from Stonewall. It was led by trans women of colour, among them Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P Johnson, who were of course two key founders of our movement, to whom we owe everything. ⠀ Yet today, the QTPOC community has been let down, and we all need to do more. Until our trans siblings can live their lives in peace, then there can be no time for rest. No-one gets a break. ⠀ ⠀ Now more than ever, I feel certain that the future is ours to invent.
