The British Beauty Council three strategic pillars are: reputation, education and innovation. Pillar presidents drive forward these important areas of work.

EDUCATION

The beauty industry employs millions of people in accessible, creative and flexible jobs. These range from gateway positions in hairdressing to roles researching and designing products and packaging.
However, educational opportunities to study for beauty qualifications are perceived as non-academic and un-aspirational and could better serve the needs of both students and the industry.
The British Beauty Council is working to attract the best talent into the industry and equip them with the education and skills that the sector needs.
Our Education Pillar team successfully worked with standard setting body HABIA to address the challenges with regard to diverse training in hair and beauty, providing experts from the British Beauty Council’s Advisory Board as a taskforce to support this work.
The British Beauty Council now offers free limited-term memberships to students.

INITIATIVES:

  • Inform young people about the breadth of opportunities and careers available in the beauty industry
  • Work with employers to establish workforce development and clear career paths to build and retain talent
  • Publicise the breadth and depth of jobs and aid entry to the industry by promoting careers through advertising and online channels with business leader and social influencers, and by engaging educational establishments.
