Out On The Table

‘2018’s live brief uses as its start point material from the Feminist Archive South based in Bristol, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary.Responding to a selection of archive material, you are asked to make a Herstory visible by making a site-specific piece of design in Bristol.’ For our site specic outcome, we met with feminst Helen Taylor and had our own discussion about women studies, like the nine women of Half the Sky would have had. We recorded this interview with Helen and created a film with visuals inspired by the idea of the meetings, where the women all had to bring an item of food and had a feast during their discussions. Following our conversations, we created postcards which had a description about what the book Half the Sky is and questions of issues which are still relevant today in society. The idea behind the postcards is to encourage women generate more conversations about feminism, women’s position in society and the inequalities which are still around so that we can progress further and reduce inequality.
