Peace, Love and Thievery

‘Peace, Love and Thievery’ is a 10 minute audio documentary exploring the origin stories of what is known as the Wellness Industry. Speaking with teachers, scholars, musicians and professionals, the documentary unpicks the West’s obsession with ‘Wellness’ and the ethics of practicing Eastern traditions, some holy, in a society dictated by capitalism.

This audio documentary takes us from 1960's Rishikesh, where the Beatles discovered their own spiritual practice, to current day yoga studios where religious practices have been reduced to a 45 minute class, to fit into our busy schedules.

Featuring interviews with musicians Sheila Chandra and Nicki Wells as well as yoga teachers and scholars, I investigate whether this trillion dollar industry really has our wellness in mind.

How far have these practices come from their roots, and is a traditional practice being damaged? This is Peace, Love and Thievery.
