Petals of Positivity

  • Elnaz Soltan

Self-initiated project. I have always been passionate about mental wellbeing and in particular the therapeutic benefits of nature. In light of the Coronavirus outbreak, I decided to try and help spread a little positivity through tying these themes together. Therefore, I am currently working on a project called ‘Petals of Positivity’ - a series of Instagram posts which combine nature-inspired motivational quotes with hand-drawn botanical illustrations.

‘Bouquet of Kindness’

In response to COVID-19, Mental Health Awareness Week 2020 was centred on the theme of ‘kindness’. To spread awareness of the campaign across social media, I created a hand-drawn ‘Bouquet of Kindness’. The design was reposted via @thegoodquote - a social media platform advocating for mental health - where it received an overwhelmingly positive response.
#PositivePost

One of my designs was recently chosen by a company called Bookblock to be featured as a postcard in their #PositivePost campaign, which is raising money for NHS Charities Together. Via the Bookblock website, people can choose from a range of postcards to send to their loved ones, or even an NHS worker, and in return donate to the COVID-19 Urgent Appeal. So far the campaign has raised over £28,000 - a true testament to the power of visual communication in these unprecedented times.
The message behind this artwork is to encourage people to slow down and be present, without putting too much pressure on themselves to keep achieving new goals - particularly during this difficult time.
