Photography - Clash: Reading Festival

  • Nori Burhan

When shooting at an outdoor music festival, my strategy focuses on preparation, timing, and spontaneous creativity. I always make a point of getting familiar with the stage layout and delve into the musicians music, so I can anticipate key moments like dramatic lighting changes or energetic moves from the performers. I use fast shutter speeds to capture crisp shots and switch between wide-angle and zoom lenses to get a mix of close-ups and wider shots that show the energy of the crowd and the stage. Framing the artist against bold stage lighting or unique backdrops adds depth to the images, using the artist(s) stage design to my advantage. Timing is everything, and I aim to catch those authentic, high-impact moments that really convey the vibe of the festival and set. Most importantly, I stay flexible and ready to adapt, as the pace and energy of a live performance can shift in an instant. Reading Festival is one of the UK's most iconic music events, offering a weekend filled with top-tier performances and vibrant energy. Known for its diverse lineup and legendary atmosphere, the festival attracts music lovers from all over. I was commissioned to photograph the event for a prominent UK-based music and fashion magazine, capturing both the electrifying performances and the festival's distinctive style. Here’s a snapshot of the dynamic performances at Reading Festival, showcasing the energy and intensity of the live acts. These images capture the essence of the festival’s vibrant atmosphere and unforgettable moments.
