Pickles Magazine – The Long or Short Road to Moscow

For their 14th edition, Pickles Magazine asked me to create a data visualisation on the topic of the 2018 World Cup Russia, host of the 2018 tournament, is the largest country on the planet, and unsurprisingly, long journeys awaited travelling fans. Research revealed a team’s group-stage performance had the potential to drastically effect the distances facing supporters who hoped to follow their heroes to the final This datavisualization plots all 64 possible routes to the World Cup final, two for every team that competed, and compares the venue-to-venue distances for travelling supporters of each team
