Planeta Manas opened officially on November 19 2021 with a mina comeback after 3 years of not being able to find a space to make mina’s events happen due to the lack of venue options in Lisbon and of course, due to the pandemic. Planeta Manas was the result of the efforts of mina and Rádio Quântica - a local queer party / collective and an online community radio station - that have been active for over 5 years in Lisbon. Together with the Portuguese and the international community that came together for a crowdfunding campaign to help kickstart the space, we were able to put things up and running in a really diy way. Since that date in November Planeta Manas has generally been open for 1 night a week on Fridays, showcasing local and international musicians, DJs and performers, hosting talks and screening films, and giving us the chance to watch some of our dear friends and inspirations perform. Considering Planeta Manas was brought to life by mina and Rádio Quântica - both community projects that aim to be platforms for queer, bipoc and marginalized identities to showcase their work - we’ve carried on with that same vision on how we try to operate, with whom we collaborate, and which values we embrace as a venue. We’re trying to offer musical fruition as well as a platform to build bridges between artists, trying to connect inter-generational, inter-sonic and inter-raver dots. We try to be as safe as possible as a space, while having a zero tolerance policy for any kind of intolerant or discriminatory behavior. We also work in close collaboration with Kosmicare, a collective composed of doctors, psychologists, nurses and pharmacists whose work revolves around harm reduction in substance consumption and on how to provide care in party environments. Besides that, being a community project, we also keep the cultural offer accessible for the members of our community, offering a guest list to those who might lack funds at any given moment. The music program is quite diverse, since Planeta Manas is a space that aims to showcase the work of the community surrounding it. While being founded with rave culture and its values in mind, we try to offer as much as we can - house, techno, electro, drumnbass, footwork, hardcore, funk, afrobeat, rock, etc. - we’ve had a bit of everything so far and have every intention to keep that going. Until now we’ve had the pleasure to host nights by queer collectives and artists from our communities such as Maythey, Arvi, Rezgate and Trypas Corassão. mina has been happening on a quasi-monthly basis for the first time in years, so we were given the chance to bring over some of our favorite artists like Jasmine Infiniti, Ananda, DJ Gag Reflex, Lydo, High Future, to name a few. Some of our resident DJs have parties happening on a regular basis too like Violet’s Angel, marum’s Infinity Rug with Lou Drago, or Photonz NO UFO’S with Shchuro. We’ve also got to showcase some of our favorite international acts like Eris Drew, Octa Octa, Objekt, Matias Aguayo, Roska, Bored Lord, and more, while providing space for local musicians, DJs and friends to perform. Above everything we try to collaborate with collectives and artists that embrace similar values and whose ethos is aligned with ours, and try to reflect that in our
