'Plastic Wrapped' SS21 CYGAN London Fashion Week

  • Zuza Grabowiec

This season, Cygan took a new approach into his design development. Inspired garments were created with fabrics out of factory waste, given by generous donations from creatives all across Europe.

Fashion and art blending together with colorful, yet lifeless plastic debris. The gentle and smooth fabric is interwind with rougher and defensive textures of nature.

The music, as well as the language the film uses, allows the viewer to sense the artificiality but also the flexibility of the concept of craftsmanship. Equally seeing the hands of the designer himself should be a reminder of our responsibility for shaping the products of art. The adaptability of the artist is far greater than adaptability of the nature. Taking that into account should take a lead in achieving conscious and sustainable fashion.
