Platform Magazine

  • Holly Aldridge-Ball

Platform is the most widely circulated magazine in Nottingham, which I had the privilege of being the Head of Design for in my final year of uni.

This addition of Platform was created as a collaboration with ‘Minds’t, a charity that offers information and advice to those struggling with their mental health. Each article was written about a different mental health topic.
In this role I was responsible for re-branding of the magazine from previous editions, and leading the other talented designers also keen to be involved.
The magazine was part of my extra curricular activities and taught me a lot about editorial design. Along with my deputy we worked on refining the finer details of every article in the magazine, but below are the spreads worked on exclusively by me.
We were humbled to have received several awards, including:
Society Of The Year at Nottingham Trent University : Winner.
University Regional Awards, Most Improved Society : Winner.
The Young Creative Awards, Best Graphic Design : Shortlisted.
The SPA Journalism Awards, Best Magazine Design : Shortlisted.
The final results of the last two awards have not yet been released so we may still have a chance at winning.
