Poetry Illustrations

One of our university competition projects was to enter the 2020 Folio Society x House of Illustration brief to illustrate three poems for the book of love poems selected and edited by Imtiaz Dharker. I created three lino prints in response to the poems (that did not get shortlisted) and I also created a front cover/slipcase design for the book. I chose the repeating lip pattern as it was important to me that the illustrations and cover of the book didn't presume any sort of gender or race, as I didn't want to interfere with the way the reader interpreted the poems. The illustration for the poem The Good Morrow was selected to be displayed on a billboard as part of the National Degree show in lieu of the usual degree shows that 2020 art and design graduates would have had.
