From the organisers at Pop Brixton (and just around the corner) this community project has seen an empty bit of land in Brixton transformed into a buzzing, bustling, sporting venue. There’s room for 1,000 in the makeshift stands, to watch the summer’s live sport over an actual AstroTurf pitch (which turns into more standing space during live sport). Between the televised sport, Pop Fields Brixton is a new home for actual sport (fancy that!) and caters for 4-a-side football; short tennis; basketball and touch rugby during non-drinking hours. During evenings, a host of street food favourites will support the project, including the pizza aficionados Made of Dough and local brewers, Brixton Brewery. A host of other local brewers sell at Pop Fields on rotation. Pitching in as … an actual football pitch; a home to the summer’s sport and a new lifestyle venture – exercise classes will run and there’s ad-hoc film showings – Pop Fields Brixton might be one of the most diverse destinations on the openings calendar.
