My final major project is called “Gardinarium” a play on the word “Herbarium” which is the study of dried herbs and plants. I was inspired by all things found within a garden but ended up mostly focusing on leaves and florals for my final major project. One of the key components to my design collection is the use of collaging techniques. I used this to create texture within my designs and as a way to incorporate an element of sustainability, which resulted in me up-cycling scraps as a way to minimise waste. Another key component is the project’s theme and how it has been represented in different styles. The bold and graphic style was a fast way to produce ideas and allowed me to play more freely with colour. And the more detailed ‘conversational scene’ style was much more time consuming but ended up with interesting results. I had fun using a home garden scene as a theme for this project.
