Portland's

  • Portland Samek

Last January, I saw an opportunity to explore and develop my creative flair and passion for property and interior design. Over the past year, one of my focuses has been starting up and developing a home décor brand, based around upcycled furniture.

"Finding innovative approaches to business challenges motivates me. I strongly believe keeping ahead of trends, introducing fresh perspectives and sampling new techniques facilitates the evolution and growth of a business."
I have been able to apply and build skills acquired in my merchandising roles, such as:

  • Product sourcing (ensuring it is aligned with upcoming trends as well as to the brand, appealing to consumers and will provide a profitable margin);

  • Managing stock and sales;

  • Marketing; and

  • Logistics (overseeing the smooth running of the process from start to finish, navigating challenging times with postal strikes and international delays).
"Portland’s aim is to provide neglected, unloved furniture with a new lease of life and help people discover and revive special finds to create a home that they truly love. In addition to our upcycled pieces, we offer a unique selection of interior design items to complete the look of your home. So browse our selection, see what’s in stock, and find just what you have been looking for!"

"Portland’s personally source and select items to curate a distinctive collection of furnishings and home goods that constantly evolves to stay on trend and fit our customers’ needs. In addition to our own collection, we welcome and encourage commissions, as we aim to help customers restore and revamp beloved pieces that are simply too good to part with."
I have also put into practice other skills such as web design and photography, creating an easy-to-use and appealing website, comprising inspiring, stylish product images.
