I made this film in the village my family had to leave in the 1940s. It began as an exploration of my feelings about being British with a Grandfather who fought for the nazis and a recent revelation that I have Jewish ancestors. It ended up being a celebration of the wonderful Ukrainian villagers who replaced my Black Sea German relatives.
