PRODUCER COVER LETTER

  • Joe Forrester
I am a video producer, director and editor, creating bespoke campaigns for brands such as Amazon, easyJet, HTC, Virgin Music, BT and LEGO and charities including UNICEF, Project Literacy, The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation and the Black Sea Maritime Archaeology Project and several video project for VIRGIN EMI, including The Tide and Jake Isaac, as well as several pieces of social content for various platforms. I’ve produced content ranging from driverless cars; to zombies taking over London landmarks; to giant-headed politicians chasing people for their votes!

I was Broadcast Producer at TNR (Press Association), working on major projects for online and broadcast and taking them from initial contact and developing successful pitches, through research, brainstorms, scripting and storyboarding, budgeting, hiring crew and kit, completing carnets, leading, directing the shoot on the day and overseeing all post-production or editing myself. A role I still undertake for Getty Video, at TNR as a freelance producer and working directly with my own clients.

I am used to working on both tight turnaround projects, where we shoot, edit, amend and release to media in a ten-hour period, as well as longer-lead ventures and a large part of the last year has been spent writing, planning, directing, shooting and cutting dozens of videos for Cult Wines, involving shoots across the UK, France, Italy, Hong Kong, China and Singapore. I have also produced long-form multi-camera shows, including writing, directing and producing two shows for Sky's Showbiz TV and a 12-part YouTube series on wine. I am an extremely experienced Premiere Pro editor, working on both online and broadcast projects, as well as supervising multiple edits simultaneously. I also shoot myself on Sony fS7, a7S and Canon C300.

Most of my projects are for release on social and as such I am used to creating dynamic, attention-grabbing content for use on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram and am particularly pushing IGTV as an expanding platform that clients need to be aware of. This also means I have to be aware of shooting specs for different platforms as well as re-versioning content to work on numerous platforms and for different territories. I am used to handling a complex workflow for a number of projects at any given time and as I also produce for advertorial and editorial pick-up, I am happy cutting different versions and tailoring a response dependent on a client’s needs.

One of my major strengths is my relationship with clients, from initial contact or pitch, to working with them on a shoot and liaising over amends. I am used to keeping multiple clients briefed on schedules, delivery times and budgets to ensure complete transparency and a good working relationship. As such, many clients request me for all their projects which is of course, very flattering!

Almost all my shoots involve contributors, ranging from academics and experts to celebrities and reality stars and I have produced content with Colin Farrell and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, had Olly Murs rolling around West London on a moped and Anthony Joshua and Eric Dier playing each other on PS4. While at the other end of the spectrum I spent five days aboard a research vessel in the Black Sea, working with marine archaeologists excavating a Byzantine shipwreck.

It is this experience of taking a project from pitch to delivery, working independently or overseeing a team and always cultivating excellent relationships with clients under pressure that hopefully means I am an asset to any client and their content production needs.

Yours sincerely,

Joe Forrester
