Prosopagnosia

“Prosopagnosia, also called face blindness is a cognitive disorder of face perception where the ability to recognise faces is impaired, while other aspects of visual processing (e.g., object discrimination) and intellectual functioning (e.g., decision making) remain intact.”

My work is an attempt to explore prosopagnosia. I was interested in how those people see others who suffer in face blindness.

I explored this idea through sewing and screen-printing onto fabric. I am fascinated by every aspect of textiles: shape, texture, line, pattern and particularly colour. Much of my inspiration came from articles about 'prosopagnosia' and old, black and white photos of my family.
