Pub Landlady

This is an ongoing series of portraits featuring pub landladies. I myself am a former pub landlord and was raised in a pub by publicans parents. I feel that the pub landlady is an icon of British culture that has yet to be represented and is under threat. Not only are pubs closing every week, the publicans that survive by being successful are forced out by breweries who install managers. I wanted to create work that represents the landladies of the U.K. And hope they won't document the end of this part of our culture but shine a light on their survival.
