Puer Aeternus by Al the Native, a strong, heartfelt rap about men’s mental health, was the focal point for my entry to Google and HMCT's D&AD New Blood 2020 Brief, Type Empowers Music. Puer Aeternus is a song by Jordan Stephens (under the alias of Al the Native) which tackles his battle with mental health issues. The song features powerful lyrics with brave and honest statements from Stephens. All material accompanying the vinyl has a focus on a new campaign "It's okay to not feel okay" with the simple sad smiley logo. Partnering with CALM - Campaign Against Living Miserably, all proceeds from merchandise sales such as the "because-you-care package" (poster, t-shirt and pins) will go towards the great work calm do. Using platforms such as Spotify, we will spread Jordan's honest words supported by CALM's support network reaching out to any of those that need help.
