quotidian from a hundred angles

  • Stephanie Mariano

Photojournalistic collection of the different forms the concept "quotidian" can take. From the 9-5 city job you cross oceans of people to get to and from, to the pursuit of one's passion, small opportunities for some self care and even moments shared in a setting more detached from the cosmopolitan madness. This series depicts some of the many ways in which many different people, from many different professions, passions, social backgrounds, ages and status spend the same day. At first unrelated and disconnected from each other, one can't help but to look a little more intensely at these portraits - isolated from one another in appearance - and feel a commonality shared between them: life. The strive for it, the living of it, the relentlessness of it, the subtleness of it. The unawareness that it is happening all around us, at all times, from all angles and directions. The banality of it all. The fact that the same day can look a hundred different ways depending on which turn you make. Photographed by Stephanie Mariano
