Rambling Restaurant

  • Abi Andersen
Rambling Restaurant began with a passion for cooking, eating and experimenting with words. Over three years we fed and entertained over 5000 people in 35 unusual places. We roved around London, turning old tram depots into wild feasting spots, Soho offices into cabaret clubs and foreign embassies into candlelit poetry dens adorned with meringue swans. Some of our finest moments included performing interactive food theatre at the Urban Physic Garden in Southwark and hosting a Mad Hatter’s tea party in an Oxford Street window, feeding passing tourists with gin and tonic via straws through a letterbox and chasing people down the road with wobbling platters of jelly.

We featured in The Times Online, Time Out, The Evening Standard, Jellied Eel, The London Paper, InLondon Magazine, HotLine Magazine, Germany’s essen & trinken magazine and GQ Brasil. TV appearances included Market Kitchen, The Great British Menu and even a feature for a news program in Austria. We were sought out by clients: private individuals, music festivals, food and drink brands and PR agencies.

How did we reach our audience?

Through a sustained combination of content and social media marketing. I wrote blog posts, built a list of subscribers, sent out email newsletters and used social media to engage with other bloggers, journalists and potential sponsors. As a result we were always full, with a waiting list for events.
