An exploration into fear and clothing, Reasons To Be Fearful looks at how clothing and textiles have been historically used to both induce and combat anxiety. Drawing inspiration from everything from headmasters cloaks to amish quilts, the collection aims to showcase how clothing can impact our mood, and how textiles and craft can be used to help our mental health in these uncertain times- all while using sustainable materials. This Project showcases look 3 of the collection- a shetland wool patchwork jumper knitted on a domestic knit machine using custom punch cards inspired by the architecture of cathedrals, war blankets and samurai belts. This is paired with gathered trousers made in the same deadstock cotton fabric as look 2. Type design by Finley Henson.
