Recon Issue_03 - POC takeover

My last project at Recon was influenced by the incredibly difficult year we all faced in 2020. The pandemic had left a community with no fetish events, lockdowns and dealing with the world discussing social issues such as racism, sexual assault and transphobia. With Issue_03 I wanted Recon to add to the conversation on how we can dismantle systemic racism in all walks of life. This issue was another reaffirmation of Recon’s position, and our drive to show diversity and inclusivity by giving people of colour on the scene a platform to be seen and heard. Makeing Issue_03 a people of colour takeover meant that everyone featured was of colour, all articles were written by people of colour, all interviews are with people of colour and any advertising also features people of colour. This is a momentous occasion and achievement not only for Recon, but the fetish scene and a demonstration that representation is possible. Issue_03's main editorial was focussed on the Black Lives Matter movement, ignited further by George Floyd's murder in 2020. Black, Gay and Kinky focussed on 5 Recon members telling all about their fetish journeys, experiences and hopes for the future of the scene for people of colour.
