Remembering Baby: Online Creative Activities

  • Lee Simmons

I’d like to share some work that’s been going on behind the scenes. I feel thankful that I have the opportunity to design for some incredibly meaningful projects. One of these is detailed below. I’ve been working with the ‘Remembering Baby’ project to design creative activities in order to help support families who have suffered a loss. Pre-lockdown, monthly creative workshops were taking place - for now, we’re taking this online. This first activity is child-friendly and fun focussed. In the words of Professor Kate Reed: ‘Remembering Baby aims to open up a conversation about the difficult and taboo subject of baby loss. It provides an important and supportive space for both bereaved families and the professionals who care for them. Inspired by our original exhibition, the aim of these online activities is to provide a long-lasting creative resource for families. Some activities are centred around memory making/keeping, while others are designed to be more child-friendly and fun focused. We know that, for many of you, these social times give you a chance to share experiences or simply be around others who have suffered a loss.’
