BRIEF

Create a brand identity for a family operated QSR specializing in Biryani, a traditional Indian rice dish, targeting young professionals and students. The client stated objectives when thinking about the logo was brand recall and instant recognition to their target audience.


APPROACH

The logo had to convey a sense of professional reliability, while maintaining a sense of family/home-cooked food. I chose to focus on the “handi” as a central element because of it’s iconic association with the dish. The colours chosen were indicative of the main spices of saffron and red chilly. Biryani originated in the Moghul Empire which is also known for it’s impressive moustaches, a common embellishment amongst the Moghul kings as a symbol of prestige. The sans-serif font was used to reflect cleanliness, a key concern for discerning QSR customers.
