Romanticism in Black

  • Salsabila Nurferyani

My collections built on the beauty of dark romantic accentuate drapery and texture. During my project, I have explored art history and its impact on the contemporary world. From all art movements, romanticism has attracted me the most. It has inspired many artworks over a period from the late 18th to the mid-19th century and has become a symbol of fighting for freedom and equality towards women. This idea fascinates me and it turns to be the inspiration for my collection. Besides Romanticism, both of my favorite designers Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo are also my major inspiration. Their philosophy in making the most radical concept, ignoring standard clothing, and instead creating extraordinary “weird” fashion is truly inspiring.
