Salt + Pickle, London

  • Tara Buet

An informal deli and bar, with a menu focusing on preserved and pickled foods and an interior that has earthy, nautral finishes and tones. Work produced when I was a Designer at Central Design Studio, based in South London.

The shopfront was in relatively good condition, so this was repainted in dark green to complement the gold decal logo and branding on the windows.
A bespoke copper bar top adds warmth to the space, and complements the lighter timber lathes and bright green bar stools. The budget for this project was low, so the copper bar top was the feature piece of this space.

Various shades of green were handpainted (by me and my colleague) onto the walls, to complement the timber furniture, and planting was added throughout the space.
When the dropped ceiling panels were removed the timber studs and dark ceiling worked well with the concept so they were kept as is.

Branding and menu design.

I was asked by the client to create an easy-to-edit menu that fit the logo branding and could be edited daily. Originally designed in InDesign, I converted the layout to Microsoft Word so that the client could edit the menu themselves.
