Scandalous Heritage

Degree FMP: As a designer I am inspired by traditional and technical processes. This project sets out to explore those ideas of ‘traditional’ and ‘classic’ (why they have withstood the test of time), whilst bringing them into a more contemporary setting. The collection will be a twist on what we’ve come to expect from traditional processes and classic designs with the aim of improving the longevity of the textiles. Each textile uses high quality fibres including lambswool, silk and cotton and is personalised to my muse Lord Byron to emulate a bespoke service and connect the customer to their clothes: the collection is audacious, playful, and unique with unexpected aspects to match the wearer. The project is split into 3 sub-collections: AUDACIOUS CLASSICS: A twist on the classic tartan. Focusing on the playful and diverse nature of Lord Byron. UNIQUE SOPHISTICATION: Looking at other traditional menswear woven structures such as houndstooth and herringbone to create a unique but sophisticated look for the revolutionary side of Lord Byron. PERSONALISED HERITAGE: A series of jacquard textiles with personalised motifs and textures directly inspired by Lord Byrons life.
