SEASON

IN WHAT WAY CAN IT BE SHOWN HOW TRENDS WITHIN THE FASHION INDUSTRY AFFECT YOUTH CULTURE TODAY?’ To explore this argument , I created ‘SEASON’ to explore how the trends that the fashion industry create every season affect Gen Z. I thought that this would be a good target audience as I would be able to relate more closely and also because of the fact that we are the first generation to be heavily impacted and influenced by social media because we have grown up with only knowing this world. So subsequently, the main purpose of this project was to provoke a conversation about an issue that we perhaps might not have noticed or deemed as a growing issue before; that issue being the youth being manipulated and influenced subconsciously by the fashion industry through trends, thus leading to early identity crises’ and longing for acceptance. The corset that I produced as one of 2 outcomes for SEASON made me consider and think deeper into how and why this is such a large issue; So, after creating the idea and concept I knew that this was the statement piece that I needed to do what I intended for this project. Post talking to a few of my age mates, I knew that the feeling of being stuck and unable to move or escape from social media - and life in general - was very prevalent.
