SEC2U

Startup Europe, European Commission and SEUN run a series of events and workshops to help grow the community of entrepreneurs across Europe. The latest SEC2U event is targeted at university students and academics.
Having not been touched in a while the website is in major need of an update both visually and structurely to ensure it that it can last for many years to come.
As the website was for an event we were brought in to review, redesign and edit within a short timeframe.
After reviewing the website it was clear that people had trouble with navigating the long pages, inconsistent layouts and complex menu structure.
In addition to making the page cleaner and shorter to navigate the structure of the “Events” page was modified so it could integrate with every member universities Eventbrite pages. Some of the icons where also changed to fit with the new visual identity.
Instead of having the icons take you to separate pages we decided to put that same information underneath the icon when you click on it.
By using tabs the overall height of the page size decreases by over 4 times.
By standardising header and body tags we ensured a more uniform design for the universities member pages, this alongside being able to add tabs for different sections ensured that pages wouldn’t ever be too long.
After 2 phases of design and 1 phase of user testing the site was stripped down to just 4 main pages each of which shorter than before.
