Second Love

  • Becky Wilson

This project celebrates the beauty in second-hand clothes, that have been passed down, worn, mended and loved. I believe there is something really special about having a relationship with clothes and something we should all think about in the unethical time of throw away fashion. This project was inspired by victorian working-class images from the photographers August Sander and Horace Warner, in particular, looking at the way clothes have been worn and patched to portray a narrative. I have forged the new and old in this collection by taking inspiration from Victorian pictures and complementing them with 21st-century Pattern making & 3D/ virtual toiling where possible, to reduce excessive use of paper & calico.
