Self-Negotiated Project

I set a brief for myself to create aesthetically pleasing greeting cards from different genres i.e. birthday, Valentines etc., to help bridge the gap in society’s representation of ethnic minorities. This was something incredibly important to me, as a person of a ethnic minority, it seemed crazy to me that something as simple as birthday cards were not representing different races and skin tones. More specifically, in a modern, fresh way to appeal to young adults and teens. I chose to illustrate a different woman per card for 3 different categories that I focused on; birthday, Valentines and congratulations. By creating illustrations of women from different races, not seen on an everyday basis I believe helps to show representation.
