Shades of Flesh experiments with various materials in relation to the intimating flesh and enveloping landscape of the human body. Kyle Moreno’s investigation of materiality is carefully constructed as his work parallels to the sensuality and intimacy of the human body. He demands vigilant attention to which materials are utilized in each composition, as well as the assembly of such items. With this attention to detail, humanistic feelings of sensuality and intimacy are quietly undulating throughout the fabric of the composition causing the audience to further engage with the series. Aside from the familiar feelings his work calls upon, the size of the photographs (20”x25”) also encourages viewers to dive deeper into the composition. Thus enabling the audience to further analyze, observe, and appreciate the immense detail rippling through each photograph. Overall, Moreno seeks to photograph an image that invokes sensuous feelings through an investigation of materiality.
