Shak - Fix You | Music Video | 2019 Crew: Dir/Dop/Editor: Ofilaye Production Assistant/1st AC: Rohit Assi Cast: @Lauren_windmill @shak.el --- This is a project I directed and shot for Singer-Songwriter Shak. He wrote a beautiful song about a family member with mental health conditions. He didn’t want the video to be about that directly so we were tasked with developing a story that was similar to the original meaning of the song but could also be universal. After developing the narrative of a girl not being able to her big 21st birthday party due to the car breaking down we then scouted locations that would go well with the lighting requirements for the mood I envisioned. I really wanted the film to be shot under artificial fluorescent lighting to evoke memories of being in a broken down car at a petrol station. This artificial lighting we found at a disused dry cleaners was perfect as it gave off a green/cool hue. This light was great though I wanted something much more warm inside the car between this couple, this car was their safe space during this turmoil, it’s warm inside the car and they have each other. I knew we’d need to get some portable work lights that will need to be gelled red/orange as there would be no power outlets accessible to us and no budget for generators or more expensive portable lights. And finally the look was complete! This was a great project to work on as it had so many limitations, with a £50 budget, we were able to pull the the look off and tell a beautiful short story.
