Shark Tank, Dive area, Reception and Entrance Portal at Bear Grylls Adventure

  • Oliver Crouch

The Bear Grylls Adventure is a new concept situated in the NEC featuring a variety of thrill based activities including rock-climbing, skydive simulators, zip lines, high ropes, diving and snorkelling. Nautilus was tasked with the design and fit out of the dive experience, entrance portal and admissions area. We commenced our design work in September 2017 and after six months of design and fine tuning we were ready for the huge task of reproducing this unique project for real! After a challenging 4 months on site we completed a variety of elements including: GRP lining of the huge 1 million litre Shark tank and glazing of large acrylic windows, the largest of which measured 5 x 2.2 metres and 130mm thick and weighed over 2000kgs! Design and construction of a giant fossilised, walkthrough megalodon jaw. All coral reef theming and painting. Design and construction of all FRP and acrylic cages, platforms and access steps for diving and snorkelling experiences. Fully themed introduction, briefing and changing area. Design and construction of rock theming for the entrance arch incorporating a huge digital screen
