Shore Beach Buggy

  • Jack Sullivan
Final year Product Design project.
Shore is a product solution to the difficulties faced by parents and guardians when having a baby up to the
age of 15 months at the beach and traversing their belongings across the sand. By placing the child’s
Group 0+ car seat into the carrier and putting the rest of their belongings on the carriage, Shore makes
getting over the sand and life at the beach easier.
The design features a lightweight and sturdy Aluminium frame that sits on top of four Wheeleez low pressure
PU balloon wheels. As they are tough and puncture resistant. These are able to glide over the sand and
provide a comfortable and stable ride over the difficult terrain.
The buggy also needed to be designed that it could be made smaller for storage or that 2 or more could nest
into one another when not in use like shopping trolleys. Therefore the design of aloud for the trolleys to nest
into each saving room. The aim is for the local council to provide the buggies, that can be hired from the beach.
The car seat holder was made from a wooden mould and vacuum formed from one piece.
Alot of metal work was also invloved in the prototyping, including use of the lathe and mill aswell as metal bending for the frame of the buggy.
Finally we had to create our stand at the end of year design show to be assesed.
