The oceans are full of plastic waste. Roughly 8.8 tons of plastic gets dumped into the oceans every year, which accounts for more than half of all pollution in ocean ecosystems. That has a massive and destructive impact on all of the species that live in the oceans. The good news is that humans can take steps to reduce or even eliminate their contribution to the problem.
