Slowness

  • Abbas Noori

his collection was photographed in 2014, when Iran was in a recession that’s still going on today. This slowdown in industry and construction projects means that many are closing down or working with a reduced capacity at a slow pace. That’s why we chose this name for the collection. As the economy slows down and money is less readily available, construction projects that don’t offer a quick return on investment are the first to be affected. Almost all the projects that have been photographed are what you might call active projects. However, the work is slow going at the end of the day. The photos show construction projects, from big national ones like the Central Bank and national railway stations and lines to big private ones like office and residential towers and private banks’ headquarters. Each of these projects employs hundreds of workers and construction experts, and is full of construction machinery and activity. In each picture, you should be able to see several people working. Some of these projects must have been finished and up and running by the time the photos were taken.
