SMILE AND WAVE

My final project - ‘Smile and Wave’ - a video, animation and sound installation. Three walls projected with three video collages combined into one comprehensive space and a surround sound system that each channel plays a different part of the experience. ‘Smile and Wave’ deals with the need of the society to give value and meaning, and our need as human beings to seek it and even consume it. Through the beauty queen pageant, which is superficial and judgmental, I have examined whether the way things are done satisfies us. The question and answers part in the competition tries to add value, but instead it creates an opposite action that weakens and makes the attempt to create meaning ridicules.
