Somewhere

  • Justine Arnal
Inspired in the events of May 68 and the Beat Generation, « somewhere » wants to share an idea of freedom and nonconformism, reflecting the mentality of the creators of both movements. With the intention to call the ones that, fifty or sixty years after, feel identified with the ideas of the rebels of these times, don’t want to live as they are required to, and want to travel a lot like Jack Kerouac and friends to run away from what they hate. The collection goes to potentials travellers and don’t want to take actual fashion and casual clothing too seriously ; at midpoint between the impossibility to wear artistic creation and the functional garment with a real use, the collection has two lines : one line of exterior garments with a humoristic touch that criticises fashion by being so absurd, but with a real possibility of being literally a functional garment, as it is possible to wear it as a classic garment and to turn it into an object that can be useful for real for the traveller. The second line is made of casual garments, easy to wear, but with the possibility to transform them in more garments thanks to a system of zippers and union of pieces with measurements that are adapted to be both a part of the garment or creating a new one. With this line, the idea is to have a unique garment with several possibilities to transformations and combinations : a favour for the traveller that don’t want to bring too much luggage and the advantage of having one and several garments in the same time. The third line is made of casual garments without possibility of transformation, but works like a combination with the rest of the collection. By making transformable garments, the idea is to innovate a new idea of fashion, by pushing the functionality to the extreme, and adapting it to the characteristics of actual fashion.
