14-23 September 2018 / Warsaw Opening 14th September 18.00 Eike König - a visual rebel, anti-aesthete, world-class graphic designer, founder of Berlin-based creative collective HORT. Designers attached to grid warn of Eike's careless and sometimes nonchalant approach to branding. Creative departments at agencies and marketing are fascinated, however, they all seem to be slightly afraid. Eike does not merely design ready-made solutions but provokes discussions mixing together various media, techniques, work and life. His work verges on design, art, and performance and he takes advantage of their mutual potentials. Minimal use of color and typography, simple message and anarchistic approach to system communication make Eike a wrecker of a brand myth perceived as a closed DNA chain. Eike creates on the basis of strategies taken from design and visual communication using form reduced to simple solutions and deconstruction. Formal variety causes that apart from visual content we get full of emotions, sometimes cynical and funny, yet always very fresh references to the contemporary times and social relationships. In Warsaw, Eike König will show us an overview of his works from the recent years when he started to head towards conceptual design exploring the meaning of branding and method of communication, and not only directly responding to the needs of a client and market. The exhibition is open daily until September 23 from 12.00 to 18.00 PARTNERS: Goethe-Institut Warschau Element Talks newonce.paper & Warszawawarsawcom IPB Warsaw NOTES.NA.6.TYGODNI Stowarzyszenie Twórców Grafiki Użytkowej (STGU)
