Souvenir: Encounters between Photography and Travel
District Planetarium, Bogota, Colombia, 2006

Traveling has always maintained a close relationship with the need for visual search. With the industrial development of photography, this relationship was strengthened to the point that is currently impossible to separate the two activities: traveling and taking photographs. The word souvenir expresses the sense of that relationship: a souvenir is a memory, a testament to a place and time. While travelling, photography fulfils its most essential function.

This exhibition includes a series of works that are born from this relationship of photography and travel through two conceptual lines. The first is to reflect on the photograph and the memory of the trip, and the second has to do with travel related photography.
