The last brief of the year was a bit more open; I chose to create a Sci-Fi film festival and host it at the Futurist cinema in Liverpool. The idea to choose a sci-fi film festival came to me after reading the futurist first showed feature wide screen movies in 1956 and in the 50’s science and the idea of going in to space was a big part of the culture. So I wanted to relate back to that time period because movies like “the creature from the black lagoon” had such brilliant illustrated movie posters.
For the branding I chose a font called Airship 27 which worked really well with the final pieces; 5 illustrated posters. Instead of hand drawing the illustrations I thought I’d try to make it slightly more modern and up to date and created some vector characters.
