Spicy Holidays .2

  • Valnerina Amati

Second part of the Spicy Holidays editorial. This project is a collaboration of creatives from my hometown Narni, Umbria that I have been working on this summer. The shots were taken under the Roman bridge of Augusto at Mulino Eroli, we wanted to capture our model on a holiday exploring the marvels of Italy immersed in symbolism and tradition. The jewellery collection I designed and handmade for this editorial was inspired by superstitious and Catholic symbols that I was around growing up. What interests me is the contradictions of elements like chillies and snakes which have historically been given different meanings, often negative. Chocker and earrings: Dried chillies filled with resin and braided with cord traditionally used to dry chillies in the sun. Silver necklace: I have created the pendant on Rhinoceros to then get it 3D printed and cast in silver which I then polished in the workshop.
